Sri Lankan Women Cricketers Ascend in ICC Rankings After Series Against South Africa

In a significant development for Sri Lankan women’s cricket, several players have made strides in the ICC rankings following their recent series against South Africa. South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt’s stellar performances have propelled her into the top five of the ICC Women’s ODI Batting Rankings, surpassing Australia’s Ellyse Perry.

Wolvaardt’s impressive knocks, including a match-winning 110 not out in the second match, have earned her a spot among the top-ranked batters. Additionally, her teammate Tazmin Brits has climbed to the 38th position after her notable contributions in the series.

Marizanne Kapp and Ayabonga Khaka from the South African team have also seen improvements in the ODI bowling rankings, with Kapp moving up to the third position and Khaka to the seventh position.

Meanwhile, Sri Lankan players Kavisha Dilhari and Nilakshi de Silva have made significant strides in the rankings, with Dilhari moving up to the 48th position and de Silva to the 49th position.

In other notable advancements, sisters Kathryn Bryce and Sarah Bryce of Scotland have seen remarkable gains in the rankings following their performances in a tri-series in Abu Dhabi. Kathryn Bryce climbed 16 places to the 46th position, while Sarah Bryce surged 80 places to the 65th position.

Tanya Ruma of Papua New Guinea (PNG) and off-spinner Sibona Jimmy have also made notable progress in the rankings, highlighting the growing talent pool in women’s cricket across different nations.

Overall, the recent updates in the ICC rankings reflect the outstanding performances and contributions of women cricketers from various countries, showcasing the global growth and competitiveness of the sport.
