Sri Lanka Women Secure Thrilling Victory Over South Africa Women in T20 Clash

Sri Lanka Women staged a remarkable comeback to secure a thrilling 7-wicket victory over South Africa Women in the second Women’s T20 match held at Potchefstroom. With this win, Sri Lanka leveled the three-match T20 series after suffering a defeat in the opening game.

In a stunning display of resilience, Sri Lanka’s Vishmi Gunaratne and Kavisha Dilhari orchestrated an unbeaten partnership of 76 runs for the fourth wicket, guiding their team to victory. Gunaratne’s explosive innings of 65 runs off 57 deliveries, complemented by Dilhari’s aggressive 45 off 28 balls, propelled Sri Lanka to the target with seven balls to spare.

Earlier, South Africa Women set a competitive target of 138 runs, with opener Anneke Bosch leading the charge with a brisk 50 runs off 32 balls. Despite Bosch’s aggressive start, Sri Lanka’s bowlers, led by Achini Kulasuriya and Chamari Athapaththu, managed to restrict the hosts to 137 for 8 in their allotted 20 overs.

Dilhari’s outstanding all-round performance earned her the player of the match award, highlighting her pivotal role in Sri Lanka’s victory. The series now stands level, with the third and final T20 match scheduled to take place in East London before the teams shift focus to the three-match Women’s ODI series.
