The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the shortlist of contenders for the ICC Men’s and Women’s Player of the Month awards for March, with Sri Lanka’s Kamindu Mendis making the cut for his remarkable batting displays.
ICC Men’s Player of the Month Nominees for March:
- Mark Adair (IRE): Adair played a pivotal role in Ireland’s historic Test victory over Afghanistan, showcasing his bowling prowess with a stellar performance that included 16 wickets across all formats.
- Matt Henry (NZ): Despite New Zealand’s Test series loss to Australia, Henry stood out with exceptional bowling figures, claiming 17 wickets at an average of 15.70 and earning the Player of the Series accolade.
- Kamindu Mendis (SL): Mendis impressed with his batting heroics against Bangladesh, notably scoring a record-breaking 164 in the first Test, becoming the first player batting at number seven or lower to hit two centuries in a single Test.
ICC Women’s Player of the Month Nominees for March:
- Maia Bouchier (ENG): Bouchier showcased her explosive batting skills in England’s T20I series against New Zealand, accumulating 223 runs at an average of 55.75 and securing her maiden nomination.
- Ash Gardner (AUS): Gardner, a former winner of the award, shone with the ball in Australia’s ODI series victory over Bangladesh, claiming eight wickets at an average of 8.62.
- Amelia Kerr (NZ): Kerr’s all-round contributions for New Zealand in the series against England earned her a nomination, with notable performances with both bat and ball.
